In this example, 27 blocks are used to create a compact and versatile outdoor fire pit. Its unique design allows you to enjoy a traditional backyard fire while also providing the option to add a cooking grate or spark screen for additional functionality.
Prepare the Site
Before starting, choose a safe and open location in your yard. The fire pit should be installed a safe distance from your home, trees, fences, and any combustible structures. Once the location has been selected, remove the grass and excavate a few inches of soil to create a stable foundation.
A compacted crushed stone base is recommended to ensure proper drainage and help prevent movement caused by freeze-thaw cycles.
Assemble the Fire Pit
The blocks are specially designed to form a circular fire pit without the need for cutting or complicated adjustments.
The first course consists of nine blocks installed directly on the prepared foundation. A second course of nine blocks is then added to create the main structure of the fire pit.
The upper section is completed using two partial courses. A third course of six blocks creates an opening that provides easier access to the fire pit, while a fourth course of three blocks completes the rear section of the structure. This configuration creates a practical and attractive design while using only 27 blocks.
For a permanent installation, landscape block adhesive can be applied between the upper courses for additional stability.
Customize Your Fire Pit
Depending on how you plan to use your fire pit, several accessories can be added. A cooking grate allows you to prepare meals over an open fire, while a spark screen helps improve safety during breezy evenings.

Adding a layer of clean stone or gravel to the bottom of the fire pit is also recommended to improve drainage and protect the base.
